Specifically designed and shaped for kids and younger riders, the all-new SM3 Youth is made for MX, Enduro, and all off-road use. It incorporates a range of technologies and innovations borrowed from Alpinestars' adult helmets to offer the ideal balance of performance, protection, and comfort.

FEATURES

• This lightweight helmet features a thermo-injected shell made from a special polymer blend with varying degrees of thickness, engineered to provide the best mix of impact protection and lightness.
• The outer shell is crafted from advanced, impact-resistant thermoplastic and comes in three sizes (Youth Small, Youth Medium, and Youth Large). The SM3 Youth weighs 1060g (ECE) and 1170g (DOT).
• There are separate versions of the shells for DOT and ECE standards; the DOT-certified version includes a composite fibre layer between the outer shell and EPS liner for maximum impact protection.
• The fit can be customised to the rider’s head, with crown and cheek pads available as genuine spare parts in different thicknesses.
• Youth Medium and Youth Large sizes share the same EPS size, allowing YM riders to start with a YM helmet and later adjust it to Youth Large as they grow, using spare crown and cheek pads.
• The Youth Small has a smaller EPS size and can only be adjusted through cheek pads. Alpinestars' research indicates that children needing a YS helmet are typically very small (around 3-4 years old) and thus require a dedicated fit.
• The multiple-density inner liner is designed to offer the right density in key areas for better impact absorption while helping keep the overall weight down.
• Both inner and outer surfaces are engineered to minimise the effects of oblique impacts.
• Alpinestars’ patented low-friction coating is applied to the inner EPS liner, reducing rotational forces caused by certain oblique impacts. This layer mimics the brain’s natural protection – cerebrospinal fluid – acting as a slip plane.
• A patented visor release system ensures the visor detaches with the correct amount of force, reducing stress on the rider’s neck during an impact.
• The comfort liner is made from recycled materials, helping lower the product's carbon footprint.
• Integrated hydration tube channels in the cheek pads for convenience and performance.
• Optimised ventilation and heat transfer with 10 inlets and 7 exhaust ports, with the visor designed to direct airflow into the vents.

SAFETY

• Alpinestars has introduced a new in-house standard for the SM3 Youth, testing the chin area under more severe conditions than the homologation standard. To meet this, the shell thickness and structure have been optimised for better impact performance in the chin area.
• The helmet is equipped with an Emergency Release System and removable cheek pads, allowing for safe and easy removal while still on the rider’s head. The 3D contoured foam ensures rider comfort.
• A soft, 25mm chin strap offers both safety and comfort.
• Stainless steel D-rings ensure a secure and tight fit.
• The SM3 helmet meets both DOT certification and ECE 2206 homologation, making it suitable for use worldwide.
